Lost in Africa

Hi everyone,

Am just about to book big trip round southern and eastern africa and have narrowed it down to three options, any help or info to help me make a decision would be greatly appreciated as have only got one chance to do this and so desperate to get it right.

I am looking to fly into Cape Town early September then travel upto to Joburg over three weeks ( will this be enough time, is the Baz Bus a good option?, what will the weather be like?, is self drive too much cost/hassle?) then fly onto Nairobi where i will start an overland trip with one of the following three companies bringing me back to Cape town roughly 6/7 weeks later.

DRAGOMAN
ACACIA
AFRICA TRAVEL COMPANY

Does anyone have any advice, info, tips on which one to use ?

Thanks so much for help

No, never used any of them but I think you're dead right to asking around before you book. Very good idea to get some recommendations or warnings from people who have used them.

Also, if you're on a tight budget, check out CouchSurfing (http://www.couchsurfing.com)- I've hosted a few people on long-distance trips travelling around Africa and it could really help cut down your travel costs. Unless money is no object, then I'd just say keep your wallet somewhere safe.
