Hello,
My name is Kristie and I am from Canada.
It's always been my dream to travel to Africa. I am hoping I can plan a trip for next year (2007) before my husband and I start a family :)
This site seems like it can be VERY resourceful.. WHERE IS EVERYONE!?
This is the type of african travel forum I've been looking for!

Package Tours is dedicated to Independent Travellers who usually backpack but want the most out of their holiday time at the coolest places and at affordable prices within Africa.
We have designed various types of holiday tour packages; ADRENALIN tours and CHILLED tours because we appreciate that people are different. Are you the type of person who is willing to try anything ? or would you prefer to take life at your own pace?
South Africa has plenty to offer.

I'm not usually a travelling backpacker. When I go to Africa I'd like to stay in nice, clean lodges but not luxury ones.
I want somewhere that's clean and comfortable.
As for adrenalin or Chilled... I'm probably somewhere inbetween.
Hi
I'm from the UK and if you want to chill, scuba dive or just hang out check out Tofo in the Inhambane Province of Mozmabique. From lodges to campsites.
Once you get there you won' want to leave

Hi,
I can tell you all something from experience - I was once a safari guide travelling through Southern and Eastern Africa.
A SAFARI is not a holiday, infact it is hard work and very little rest. Up at the crack of dawn to chase Africa's cats and wildlife ( I am talking before the sun has even risen), late to bed at night after a few beers talking about what was seen during the last few days and getting to know your fellow passengers (who often turn out to be life long friends).
Not forgetting the distances travelled every day.
Is it worth it - hell yes cause what you get see and experience will bring you back to Africa time and time again, a journey never to be forgotten.
What I (and the the girls at Uyaphi.com) always suggest that after a wildlife safari one must have at least two to three days to rest and recover before heading back home. Places like Cape Town and the beaches of Mozambique are ideal for this.
As far as the different types of safari that are on offer, well this is pretty much endless:- ( a few examples)
- Scheduled safaris - safaris that start and end on specified dates, these will have anything from 6 to 16 passengers on board
- Tailor made safari - you teel the agent where you want to go, what budget you have and what you want out of the experience. They then will give you the advice and the package to suite you
I could go on and on,
Cheers
Why dont u try east africa maybe Tanzania & kenya.I assure u! youll see all the big five and get a chance to witnesss the wildbeast great migration and lots of animals & birds. The lodges and camps are magnifiscent!Hope you will love this.

well said, safari .... if done right, will see you dirty, dusty, thirsty, tired.
it will be a long slog. but my god, the things you will see and experience.
the thing about africa, it is a world of extreme contrast. it can be the best & worst place all at the same time.
at the end of it all, it will steal your heart and call you back wherever you are.

You have made a good choice to visit Africa just before your Wedding. I assure you after Wedding you will want to visit Africa again for your Honey Moon. I propose you visit Kenya in East Africa which is believed to be the cradle of man kind. There are beautiful Beaches, Rich and diverse cultures,Peaceful and friendly citizenry and a fabulous collection of wildlife in their natural habitat. You will just like the experience. The political stability and visitors security is guaranteed.

Hi kristie, I would recommend go do it!! I am in love with Africa mind and depending what your budget is I can only recommend local ttransport or Over Lander trucks. Have been in 5 star accom but is very restrictive and does not give you much opps to explore and be with the locals.
I met some nice people on my last over lander trip camping from Canada - from Nairobi taking in so much in E. Africa through Masi Mara - Serengetti (covered Lake Victoria (camping by the beach) to Simba Campsite at Ngororo Crater - The pink Lake oh my god! Is awesome all of it!
Also been to West Africa - Gambia - Senagal and Mali and covered quite a lot of milage by local transport. Please ask about any of these places - I suppose it depends what you want from a holiday ie. do you want to be a tourist or traveller?? There are differences.. Hope to here from you soon, Michelle
