Living in Mali

Hey everyone - I just discovered this forum, it looks great so far! I am a Peace Corps volunteer living in Mali for the next two years. At the moment, I don't know too much about Mali (I've been here in training for a little over a month), but soon I should be able to help out anyone who wants to travel to Mali :). I will also probably be posting here at some point when I travel around West Africa - probably next year sometime. Thanks again, and nice to meet everyone!

Hi Gohab?? This is your name not? I'm Michelle, and I've done a lot of travelling around W. Africa by local transport with friends from The Gambia. All the way to George Town (via staying at the GAmbia barracks hey an experience on the way back!! - to St James Island - to Senagal stopping in Cowlack where I have good friends then Dakka and to Corrie Island steeped in history oh man is beaut! Did make it to Mali one trip a long bloody road in transport far from comfy - stayed at the shelter at the bus station bout 12 at night after getting past customs but my experience of the police there is not so hot!! I dont know if your white - but believe me its sooo exploited (okay the boots on the other foot soo to speak!) If your interested bout any of these places and do's and donts please contact me - would be nice to here bout your experiences too. Michelle x
